Making Insurance Work for Microfinance Institutions: A technical guide for developing and delivering microinsurance
Taking an approach that any microinsurance program must be profitable, the authors set out to address the full range of technical issues surrounding the development and delivery of life insurance products aimed at the low-income market. Starting with insurance fundamentals and moving to prerequisites it sets out a strong foundation for an understanding of microinsurance. Then it addresses five recommended life insurance products, their operations, and different options for outsourcing. It continues with a details of insurance accounting transactions, and finally with a technical review of the premium setting process. This manual is the basis for the course of the same name.
